Sy & Partners Supports SIAC Panel on Arbitration Clauses in Corporate Contracts

Posted: May 22, 2026

On 21 May 2026, Sy & Partners proudly sponsored a breakfast session titled “Arbitration Clauses in Corporate Contracts: Drafting, Strategy and Enforcement” held at De La Salle University Manila, Andrew Gonzales Building. The event brought together law students, corporate professionals, and industry practitioners for a timely and substantive discussion on arbitration in corporate practice.

The session was moderated by Daniel Hofileña, Partner at Kalaw Prasad & Hofileña Law, and featured distinguished panelists including Chrysilla Bautista, Head of Litigation at Ayala Corporation and Ayala Land; Samuel Leong, Deputy Registrar of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC); and Glenn Tuazon, Partner at Sy & Partners.

As part of the program, panelists shared valuable insights on key aspects of arbitration clauses in corporate contracts—from initial drafting considerations to strategic decision-making and enforcement challenges. The discussion explored how well-crafted arbitration clauses can serve as effective tools in managing disputes, particularly in complex commercial arrangements. Emphasis was also placed on navigating enforcement issues and addressing practical challenges faced by both in-house counsel and external advisors.

Designed as an interactive breakfast session, the event provided an opportunity for newer practitioners to engage directly with SIAC representatives and experienced in-house counsel. Attendees gained practical perspectives on dispute resolution strategies, as well as guidance on aligning arbitration mechanisms with broader corporate objectives.

Following the panel discussion, participants continued conversations during a networking session sponsored by Sy & Partners, fostering meaningful connections among students, legal practitioners, and corporate professionals. The strong turnout and active participation underscored the growing interest in arbitration as a preferred mode of dispute resolution in the region.

Sy & Partners is pleased to support initiatives that promote knowledge-sharing and professional development within the legal community, particularly in areas such as international arbitration and dispute resolution. The firm remains committed to engaging with emerging talent and industry stakeholders through collaborative platforms that advance legal practice and innovation.
