Job Description

The Finance Assistant provides financial, accounting, and administrative support to the Finance Department of the law firm. The role assists in billing, collections, bookkeeping, expense monitoring, and compliance with financial policies and regulatory requirements, while ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and timely financial reporting.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and issuance of client billing statements, invoices, and billing summaries
  • Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding client payments in coordination with lawyers and the finance team
  • Record and maintain accurate financial transactions, vouchers, and supporting documents
  • Assist in daily bookkeeping, expense tracking, and reconciliation of records
  • Prepare reports related to expenses, collections, and financial summaries for management review
  • Support month‑end and year‑end closing activities
  • Assist in processing payments, reimbursements, and petty cash transactions
  • Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, banks, and government agencies as required
  • Maintain organized financial files and ensure proper documentation for audit and compliance purposes
  • Ensure compliance with firm financial policies, tax requirements, and internal controls
  • Perform other finance‑related and administrative tasks as assigned

 

Job Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Accounting or bookkeeping training is an advantage
Experience
  • At least 1–3 years of experience as a finance assistant, accounting assistant, or similar role
  • Experience in a law firm, professional services firm, or billing‑based environment is an advantage
 Skills and Competencies
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial processes
  • Experience in billing, invoicing, and accounts receivable management
  • Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion
  • Good organizational and time‑management skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
