Job Description
The Messenger is responsible for the timely and secure delivery, filing, and retrieval of legal documents and other materials between the law firm, courts, government agencies, clients, banks, and other external offices. The role supports the firm’s daily operations by ensuring that documents, payments, and official transactions are completed accurately, promptly, and with strict confidentiality.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- File pleadings, motions, and other legal documents with courts and government agencies
- Serve and receive documents from opposing counsel, clients, and external parties as instructed
- Process and follow up on documents with government offices (e.g., courts, registries, SEC, city halls, banks)
- Pick up and deliver documents, checks, and official correspondence within and outside the office
- Coordinate with legal secretaries, paralegals, and lawyers regarding filing instructions and deadlines
- Monitor filing deadlines and immediately report any issues, delays, or rejections
- Maintain records and receipts of filed, served, or collected documents
- Assist with notarization coordination, payments of filing fees, and procurement of certified copies
- Perform general office errands and administrative support tasks as assigned
- Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive legal documents at all times
Job Qualifications
Education
- High school graduate or vocational course graduate
- Additional training in office procedures or clerical work is an advantage
Experience
- At least 1 year of experience as a messenger, runner, or office staff
- Experience working in a law firm, court, or government office is an advantage

- Familiarity with basic court and government office procedures
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions

- Ability to navigate city routes and government offices efficiently
